INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

Schools have behaviour policies for a number of reasons.  It is important that as students you know what is expected of you to ensure that high standards can be achieved.  High standards of positive behaviour and attitude mean that you can work in an environment that allows you to be successful and achieve your potential.  Everyone suffers if we allow an atmosphere of lack of pride and underachievement to develop and standards are low.

Standards within school should be high and should be characterized by mutual respect and cooperation.

In assemblies and PD lessons you have been looking at the Government’s document Every Child Matters (ECM).  Everyone agrees that within school you should:

Within school we can create a “Code of Conduct” which we all agree makes school a good place to be.

The Code of Conduct looks at positive behaviour and shows you how to behave in such a way that you are happy and successful and lets you help others to be the same.

The Code of Conduct points out positive behaviour and attitude and tells you what to do and how to do things. It is not a list of rules which tell you what not to do.

Positive behaviour is about how you present yourself, have pride in yourself and achieve success and rewards for being positive in your attitude towards working hard, working with other students and grown ups, both inside and outside the classroom.

A positive attitude allows you to make plans and decisions which make you a special person everyone looks up to and admires.  It makes you the person who knows how to get things done.

A positive attitude makes you the sort of person who likes to see justice and fair play.  You do not like to see other students being picked on or bullied and you are prepared to do something about it.

This code of conduct to promote positive behaviour and attitude must exist in:

How should you behave :

to be the kind of person we have already described?
