Dear Parent/Carer

THURSDAY 24 APRIL 2008 - INFORMATION REGARDING INDUSTRIAL ACTION
You may be aware that the National Union of Teachers is taking industrial action on 24/4/08 in protest against the Government’s proposed pay settlement for teachers. A significant number of teachers at Radcliffe Riverside will be supporting the action and therefore, after considering the health and safety implications for students and discussing the situation with the Chair of Governors, a decision has been made to put in place the following arrangements. Please note these arrangements may differ to reports you will see in the local press which were published before all the teachers involved had made a final decision to take action.

Years 7 and 8 students
To arrive at the usual time of 8.55 am and be dismissed at 12.30 pm

Year 9 students
To remain at home for the whole day

Years 10 and 11 students
To arrive at the usual time of 8.55 am and be dismissed at 12.30 pm It may be possible to arrange some revision sessions for Year 11 students during the afternoon on Upper School Campus and where appropriate departmental staff will liaise with students and parents/carers regarding arrangements.

The school canteens will be closed at lunchtime, however there will be a limited range of snacks and sandwiches available at break.

Bury College is also affected by the action and will be closed all day therefore Year 10 students on the Health & Social Care course who would normally attend college in the morning should remain at home all day.

School will open at the normal time of 8.55 am on Friday 25/4/08. I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause but I trust you will understand that these events are beyond the control of the school.

If you have any queries about these arrangements please do not hesitate to contact school.

Yours sincerely

DIANA MORTON
Executive Headteacher
